IMPORTANT CHANGES IN PRACTICE OPERATIONS IN REPSONSE TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC

At the end of 2019, a cluster of pneumonia cases caused by a novel Corona Virus was reported in Wuhan China. The virus has since been named COVID-19 and has been declared a pandemic by the WHO. On the 15th March 2020 President Cyril Ramaphosa declared a ‘national state of disaster’ in South Africa and measures have been imposed and will be strictly enforced in the upcoming weeks to combat the spread of the virus. In accordance with these measures, Netcare Olivedale Hospital and our Haematology Clinic have put hospital and practice specific protocols in place to protect our most vulnerable patients as well as our healthcare staff. We strive to ensure that our practice remains a place of love and healing and it is with a sense of purpose and responsibility that we ask you to abide by the following measures. Note that as national and local protocols change, we will be updating our clinic protocols accordingly and we suggest that you regularly consult our website for further information.

Please note that no walk-in patients will be allowed into the practice. It is imperative to call or page ahead of time so that preparations can be made for your arrival if needed. We request that past and current patients read this document before calling in.

Should you wish to read up and obtain updated and reliable information on COVID-19 we recommend the following sites:

These practice information documents have been updated on the 4th May 2020.
