Treatments

HAEMTEAM is a specialist Clinical Haematology practice and the clinical team members available to you are all qualified and experienced in this medical discipline. Hematology is a branch of medicine concerning the study of blood, the blood-forming organs, and blood diseases.

The word "heme" comes from the Greek word for blood. Hematology is practised by specialists in the field who deal with the diagnosis, treatment and overall management of people with blood disorders. Below are some of the diseases treated by Haematologists.

For patients requiring intravenous treatments eg. chemotherapy, intravenous iron therapy, intravenous immunoglobulins, intravenous immunotherapy etc. but who do not require hospital admission, we have an infusional treatment facility in our Olivedale practice. The treatment room is staffed by our extremely proficient nursing staff who are trained in administering chemotherapy. Not only do they administer your treatment, but they also discuss treatment-related issues, side-effects of medication, etc. and guide you through your treatment journey. We strive to ensure that the treatment room is a comfortable and nurturing space.
